At Tejano Center for Community Concerns, through Family and Community Engagement (FACE), we are committed to the shared responsibility to develop and empower the next generation of community servants, workers, thinkers, creators, and family leaders. FACE enjoys a unique position among Tejano Center programs and services. While many of its initiatives directly benefit RYSS students and families, its outreach also impacts the greater community.
La Tiendita provides food assistance, nutrition education, and essential resources, eliminating barriers to health equity and empowering families to achieve healthier, more fulfilling lives.
Nueva Vida is a supportive housing project for low-income seniors aged 62 and over, providing not just housing but a community that promotes engagement, social connection, and access to resources for a better quality of life.
Sunrise Lofts is a place where young adults that have been in Foster Care find secure housing and are surrounded by services that will help them to lead independent, productive, and fulfilling lives.
We offer comprehensive health care and education to youth 13 - 24 years of age, a healthcare resource to the community at large at no cost.
Tejano Center RISE Program, Re-energizing, and Inspiring, Seniors Every day, provides opportunities for residents of Tejano Center's Nueva Vida Senior Housing residents and all neighborhood/community seniors to enjoy social interaction and remain as active as possible. Some activities are hosted at Nueva Vida and others take place off -site, such as painting classes, and visits to local museums & art venues.
OST Lofts will be part of a mixed-use planned community being proposed at 5520 Spanish Trail. The proposal is to combine OST Lofts, an affordable rental housing development consisting of 125 total units, with a stand-alone quality Pre-Kindergarten Program. The Pre-K Program will be available to residents of OST Lofts and to those living in the neighborhood. The Tejano Center will be the educational provider of the Pre-K Program. TCCC in partnership with DWR Development Group, LLC has filed an application with TDHCA seeking housing tax credits to finance a portion of the development cost of the planned community.
The Tejano Center created this program aimed to enhance parent involvement in early childhood development for children ages birth to 2. This program addresses gaps in literacy and cognitive development by educating parents on effective parenting strategies. Held twice a week each semester, the program provides guidance on language and literacy engagement and other developmental issues, serving 12 parents and 12 children per semester.
